Kolkwitzia amabilis
Gray-brown bark on older stems exfoliates to give winter interest and appeal. Pale pink bell shaped flowers in early June, followed by brown hairy seeds that remain in irregular clusters into winter. Fall color reddish. Grows anywhere and prospers in dry, sandy poor soil. Bank or shrub border plant. Shade tolerant.
